MISSION 31:
RUN IT FORWARD
GRANT PROGRAM
PURPOSE & PHILOSOPHY
The Mission 31: Run It Forward
grant program was established
by the Johnson Family’s Mission
31 Foundation to serve residents
in the Houston and Phoenix
areas. The program seeks to
provide assistance that will
allow individuals or families
to strengthen their ability to
care for themselves, enhance
their stability and security, and
improve their quality of life or
their ability to contribute to the
community.
FAST FACTS ABOUT THE GRANT PROGRAM
- Mission 31: Run It Forward is a grant program designed to provide
financial assistance to families in the Houston and Phoenix areas
who are having difficulty paying medical bills or purchasing lifeimpacting supplies for their children.
- 1–2 grants will be awarded every other month as funds are
available in each market:
*Funds raised in the Houston area will be awarded through
grants in that market
*Funds raised in the Phoenix area will be awarded through
grants in that market
- Maximum amount per grant request is $5,000 (reapplying is
allowed)
- The application approval process is managed by the Mission 31
Foundation team with input from David and Meghan Johnson
CRITERIA FOR GRANT APPLICATIONS
- Grant requests must be centered around the Foundation’s mission
of providing opportunities, support and resources to seriously-ill
children and their families.
- Grant applications must be submitted by a program partner,
organization, facility, treatment center, healthcare professional or
the like that is well-informed about the family’s financial situation,
patient’s diagnosis, specific needs, etc. Applications will not be
accepted directly from the candidate or candidate’s family unless
otherwise specified by the Johnsons.
- The Foundation will consider payments for medical bills, treatment
bills, therapy bills, adaptive technology or equipment, etc.
- Awarded grant funding will be made directly to the vendor,
not the patient or his/her family, to ensure the funds are used
appropriately.
ELIGIBLE PARTNERS
- Future partners in Houston who receive a David’s Locker
- Houston-based hospitals, pediatric centers and special needs
facilities
- Families impacted by our mission (through referrals from
partners)
- Partners in Phoenix who received a David’s Locker:
*Cardon Children’s Medical Center
*Emerson Elementary School
*Phoenix Children’s Hospital
*Ryan House
